Division description

In the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission or CEA ( French : Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives), the direction of fundamental research leads scientific activities in physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, climate and environmental science.

Description de l'unité

The “Maison de la Simulation” is a laboratory which assembles five collaborators (CEA, INRIA, university of Paris-Sud and university of Versailles- Saint Quentin). It has an objective: to guide, support and stimulate scientific communities. The “ Maison de la Simulation” promotes, in France, the emergency of a community specialized in high performance computing and develops the synergy between researchers and engineers of different disciplines for realizing scientific progresses in high performance computing.

For completing a task successfully, the “ Maison de la Simulation” develops three axis :

- A multidisciplinary research center around the digital simulation
- A unity of department of expertise opened on communities.
- A pole of education and scientific animation in supercomputing.

Job description

The successful candidate will coordinate and contribute to application software development related to the ERC Project ATMO. The goal is to produce and use high-end simulation tools designed for the next generation of largest supercomputers (GPUs, Xeon Phis, etc) for the study of fingering convection in stars, brown dwarfs, and exoplanets. He/she will take advantage of the innovative library Kokkos to achieve performance portability between different architectures, and will contribute to the incorporation of adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) in the hydrodynamic simulations with the library p4est.

He/she will be also part of teams of HPC experts from Maison de la Simulation and will work in collaboration with an international scientific community. He/she will have the opportunity to work on production level HPC codes running on the most powerful supercomputers.

Applicant Profile

You have a PhD or master's degree in a scientific domain strongly connected to HPC. You possess :

• Operational knowledge of techniques and programming language (Fortran90, C or C++) for application development
• Strong experience in application parallelization (MPI, OpenMP) and scientific codes optimization on various architectures (SMP, MPP) running in Unix environment
• Skills to work in a team

You have to give three letters of reference.
