Description de l'unité

Based mainly in Grenoble and Chambéry, the Laboratoire d'Innovation pour les Technologies des Energies nouvelles et les Nanomatériaux (Liten) is a major player in European research entirely dedicated to new energy technologies.
A unit of LITEN, the Department of Thermal Technologies, Bio-Resources and Hydrogen has the mission to develop the hydrogen and fuel cell sector, to study energy or fuel production processes and to explore and promote innovative and efficient uses of heat.
In an environment at the cutting edge of technology, you work in our Energy Systems Department for Territories and Industry. With its 2 laboratories, this department is responsible for carrying out the entire energy systems activity from a technological point of view, developing study methodologies, capitalizing on models of technological bricks and software tools, and setting up and monitoring demonstration projects.
You have the opportunity to contribute to the mission of the Solar and Thermodynamic Systems Laboratory: to study and develop solar thermal and thermodynamic components and systems for heating networks, industrial applications and polygeneration; to develop and prototype systems for the conversion or valorisation of heat by thermodynamic means.

Methodical design optimization of a solar thermal systems for process heat production

Description de l'offre

Industrial heat is a major source of energy consumption and CO2 emissions: in Europe, heat represents 70.6% of energy consumption (193.6 Mtoe). Fossil energies meet 75% of the need. Solar thermal, flat or concentrated, is part of the solution to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels, and this for a large temperature range. Nevertheless, solar thermal is subject to many constraints: available space, weight of the structure, demand (heat and temperature), availability of solar radiation, cost... A number of parameters can be varied, such as solar technologie or integration scheme, and choosing the optimal combination for a specific need remains complex. Design optimization also presents a conceptual concern: is it necessary to optimize the control before optimizing the design? The purpose of this internship is to propose an optimization model based on a MILP algorithm, using an in-house code developed in the context of a thesis dedicated to control optimization of Solar Heat for Industrial Processes (SHIP).
