Postdoc – Advanced characterization of the stability of tandem photovoltaic cells under illumination

Vacancy details

General information

Organisation

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.

The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Job title

Postdoc – Advanced characterization of the stability of tandem photovoltaic cells under illumination

Subject

Do you want to develop solutions for the energy transition?

The challenge is to measure and study the degradation mechanisms under illumination of silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells, as well as use modeling to understand how to improve their lifespan

Contract duration (months)

12 months

Job description

The project objective involves studying the degradation mechanisms under illumination of silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells, both at the material and interface levels. This study includes a set of characterizations to be carried out before and after aging, notably time-resolved photoluminescence, external quantum efficiency, or X-ray diffraction. Additional measurements will also be carried out by our project partners, jointly selecting the appropriate analyses to refine the diagnosis, for example using XPS, HAXPES, ToF-SIMS, TLM, KPFM or GDOES. Based on an existing model, simulation work will be carried out to study the dynamic phenomena related to the lifespan of these solar cells.

The work includes physical measurements, semiconductor simulation, algorithmics, imaging, and Python programming. It is based on a bibliographic study and on the experimental handling of characterization tools.

The job takes place at the Institut National de l’Energie Solaire (INES), in Le Bourget du Lac (73), near Chambéry. The work will be carried out as part of a project funded in particular by the French National Research Agency (ANR) with several partners at the national level.
