CEA (logo)

Organisation

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.

The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Job title

Postdoc – 24 months - Novel near-infrared imaging technology

Subject

Contributing to innovation in the field of short wavelength infrared imaging technologies offers an exciting opportunity over the next two years?
Are you ready to take on the challenge?
Nanocrystal-based detectors are emerging as a promising technological alternative for SWIR (1–2.5 µm) imaging, with applications spanning smartphones, automotive systems, agriculture, and other civilian sectors. The successful candidate will investigate the potential of this disruptive approach by evaluating its electrical behavior, performance, and stability.

Contract duration (months)

14 months

Job description

SWIR (1–2.5 µm) optical imaging is at the heart of the CEA’s research and innovation activities. In this context, Quantum Dots (QD) detectors are emerging as a promising technological alternative. The successful postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the fabrication and advanced characterization of QD-based devices to investigate their electronic and optoelectronic properties, with particular emphasis on their electrical and environmental stability. This work will contribute to the development of a SWIR imaging demonstrator. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment covering QD chemistry, device fabrication and integration, and advanced electrical and physicochemical characterizations.

As a major technological research institute, the CEA-Liten plays a decisive role in the development of future technologies for the energy transition and the limitation of greenhouse gas emissions

 What we offer :

·         In the heart of the Alps, an exceptional and internationally recognised scientific ecosystem, in a city committed to the environmental transition "Grenoble European Green Capital 2022",

·         A balance between private and professional life (50 days off/year), an active Works Council for leisure and extra-professional activities,

·         Minimum salary according to your qualifications and experience, access to a savings scheme funded by the CEA,

·         Industrial-grade facilities for research,

·         Participation to scientific conferences,

·         Training to strengthen your skills or acquire new ones.

Interested? Apply online now. We look forward to getting to know you!

Applicant Profile

What you bring to the table

·         You have a PhD in materials science, physics, engineering, electronic

·         Key technical skills: semiconductor materials, nanocrystals, microelectronics fabrication processes, fabrication and characterization of electrical and/or optoelectronic devices.

·         Soft skills: dynamism, rigor, critical thinking, initiative

Applicants should hold a PhD in materials science, physics, engineering, or electronics. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams while demonstrating autonomy, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous approach to experimental research involving material processing, device integration, and physicochemical and electrical characterizations.
