General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Description de l'unité
Within the Laboratory of Experimental Programs and Safety Tests (LP2E), join a dynamic team responsible for the preparation, execution, and analysis of tests on the CABRI experimental reactor, operated by the CEA.
The LP2E is part of the Reactor Studies Department, an R&D department affiliated with the IRESNE Institute, which brings together expertise in the evaluation of nuclear reactor lines (performance, nuclear safety, economics, waste), nuclear physics, reactor and cycle physics, as well as the expertise for the operation and conduct of reactor experiments.
The Institute for Research on Nuclear Systems for Low-Carbon Energy Production (IRESNE) is one of the three institutes of the Energy Directorate (DES) of the CEA.

Job description
Are you looking to join a dynamic team and contribute to innovative projects in the field of nuclear energy?
We offer you the opportunity to undertake a six-month internship focused on the neutronic modeling of the CABRI nuclear reactor.
The CABRI reactor is located at the CEA Cadarache site. It is an experimental safety research reactor that performs power transients to test the resistance of fuel rods and their cladding for pressurized water reactors (PWRs).
Tasks
- Familiarize yourself with the TRIPOLI-4 modeling of the CABRI reactor.
- Compare the neutronics performance of the latest model developments with the reactor's reference studies.
- Propose and implement improvements for the reactor modeling.
- Write a report summarizing the results obtained.
Methods / Means
Monte-Carlo neutronic, Excel, Word, Linux, Python
Applicant Profile
You are in your second year of a Master's degree or in the final year of an engineering school in the field of Nuclear Energy.
You have strong skills in Monte-Carlo modeling of nuclear reactors.
You have strong skills in data analysis and report writing.
You are proficient in common computer tools (Word) and data processing software (Excel, Python).
You wish to develop your skills in neutronics.
You are capable of working independently and as part of a team.
