Job description

An ambitious project at the heart of the energy transition
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work in a unique research
environment, backed by strong human and material resources,
contributing to the development of a new architecture for proton
exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). The goal: to simplify the system by reducing, or even eliminating, the humidifiers currently required for its operation. If validated, this new architecture would help overcome key technical and technological barriers that currently limit this technology, facilitating its emergence in society by reducing costs and easing its integration.

Your mission :
You will be responsible for designing and developing an innovative
PEMFC characterization cell. The design phase will include advanced
simulations to optimize the cell's architecture and operating parameters.
This novel cell will enable the validation of a patented fuel cell concept.
This project will require you to combine two key dimensions:
- Numerical: running simulations based on existing models and
tools, which you will adapt to this new architecture;
- Experimental: adapting test benches, and defining and
implementing test protocols.

You will be supported in the design and development process by a team of research engineers, internationally recognized experts in their
respective fields, as well as by technicians who will assist you in
implementing your developments. Our team has a long track record and recognized expertise in the design, development, and testing of fuel cells, reflected in numerous patents, publications, and technology transfers to several industrial partners [1 – 3].
A central role, an open career path

This ambitious, strategically important project for our team will position you as the lead contributor to a breakthrough innovation. Following the protection of potential innovations, one or more publications are expected. The skills and knowledge you will gain are sought after in both academic and industrial settings, offering broad opportunities for the next steps in your career.

Applicant Profile

What you bring to the table :

• Your PhD in a field such as electrochemistry, thermal science, energy systems, fluid mechanics, or process engineering. Experience combining experimental approaches and simulations would be a plus. • Ideal skills: Multiphysics simulation; Design and fabrication of electrochemical test cells; Definition and implementation of test/validation protocols; Data acquisition and processing; Expertise in transport phenomena in electrochemical cells.

• Soft skills: Rigor, ingenuity, and autonomy.

What we offer :
• In the heart of the Alps, an exceptional and internationally
recognised scientific ecosystem, in a city committed to the
environmental transition "Grenoble European Green Capital
2022",
• a major technological research institute, the CEA-Liten plays a
decisive role in the development of future technologies for the
energy transition and the limitation of greenhouse gas emissions,
• A balance between private and professional life (50 days off/year),
an active Works Council for leisure and extra-professional
activities,
• Salary according to your qualifications and experience
• Industrial-grade facilities for research,
• Participation to scientific conferences,
• Training to strengthen your skills or acquire new ones.
