General information

CEA (logo)

Organisation

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.

The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Description de l'unité

Within the technological research cluster of the CEA, the LIST Institute dedicates its activities to intelligent digital systems. We have a unique know-how from a culture of innovation and our mission is to produce and transfer useful technologies to our industrial partners in four areas: factory of the future, cyberphysical systems, innovative instrumentation, artificial intelligence.

Within LIST, the Laboratory for Communicating Systems (LSC) develops innovative network technologies enabling the implementation of trust networks with a high level of performance, security, resilience, agility and scalability. We develop tools and solutions for network management automation, performance optimization (QoS and deterministic networks), resilience and reliability, preventive security (access control, privacity) and reactive based AI (detection of unknown attacks or anomalies).

Our objectives are to meet the needs of cyber-physical systems and cyber security issues. Uses include intra-vehicle, intra/inter-robot communications, TSN on 5G networks for tele-presence, and anonymization of network communications.

Job title

QoS inter-domain SDN contract negotiation and flow reliability in 6G networks

Subject

With the emergence of 6G networks, ensuring quality of service (QoS) is crucial. The negotiation of cross-domain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is essential to establish clear agreements between different service providers, thus ensuring effective resource management. Cross-domain refers to the interaction between several distinct networks, requiring coordination of QoS and security policies.

The Software-Defined Networking (SDN) enables centralized management of network resources, facilitating automation and performance optimization. The Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) guarantees real-time data transmission, and its integration into 6G with SDN will allow communication with controlled latencies for critical applications.
However, the management of SDN inter-domain connectivity requires SLA negotiation to ensure end-to-end QoS expected by the user.

Job description

The intern will realize:

  • an analysis of the QoS requirements and the mechanisms for negotiating SLA across domains;
  • the design of an SLA negotiating mechanism taking into account areas including TSN mechanisms;
  • the implementation of a prototype.
