General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Division description
CEA's technology research division (DRT) has a portfolio of technologies in the fields of information and communication, energy and health. As an interface between research and industry, our mission is to develop and transfer technologies, from theoretical proof of concept to industrial demonstrators, effectively bridging the gap between research and industry.
CEA List, a research institute specialized in intelligent digital systems, is located in the heart of the Paris-Saclay science and technology cluster.
Description de l'unité
Within the CEA List, the Electronics Design Automation and Architectures Laboratory (LECA) has the mission to design innovative and flexible system-on-chip architectures that meet the challenges of performance, cost, energy consumption, safety and security, targeting critical embedded systems and HW accelerators for embedded AI. To reduce the development time and improve the quality of these architectures, the team of experts develop innovative design tools and methods.

Job description
« Join the CEA to give meaning to your work, lead or support national and international R&D projects, and cultivate and nurture your curiosity. »
In summary, what do we propose?
We are looking for a research engineer in generative AI. This position in a fixed-term contract is based at the CEA Paris-Saclay, Essone (91). This position is available as soon as possible.
What do we expect from you?
You will contribute to a cutting-edge project on generative and agentic AI for the automatic creation and validation of complete virtual platforms for hardware systems. Your primary focus will be the LLM-based generation of functional QEMU models, from individual hardware components to integrated virtual platforms.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Generating functional, compilable, and QEMU-compatible hardware and platform models from specifications
- Developing AI methods to discover, assess, reuse, and adapt existing models
- Improving generated models through compiler feedback, runtime traces, and test results
- Automating platform composition, testing, validation, and end-to-end QEMU workflows using AI agents
- Collaborating with project teams, contributing to the lab’s scientific roadmap, publishing in leading venues, and representing the team at international events
