Description de l'offre

Irig ambitions to strengthen its skills and research activities in the field of digital health. The candidate can propose a research project to be integrated into one of the two following departments:  IBS (Institut de Biologie Structural –then, the project should focus on structural biology) or BGE (Laboratoire Biosciences et bioingénierie pour la Santé –then, the project should focus on precision medecine).

Structural biology profile
We seek an expert who will get involved in researches applied to protein design by providing recognized skills in artificial intelligence. They will thus strengthen and extend the biomedical and/or biotechnological scope of the projects carried out at IBS. Several IBS research groups are interested in the potential of AI to unleash their research, but also willing to support the development of new design approaches by providing the skills and environment required for protein design validations. Multiple collaborations are therefore possible within IBS. The successful candidate must be able to set up, finance and lead their own research team, which will increase the development, in France, of de novo protein design.

Precision medicine profile
Predictive models based on artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming essential tools for precision medicine, allowing clinicians to better prevent, diagnose and treat their patients' pathologies. To face these challenges, BGE ambitions to recruit a principal investigator who will develop and lead interdisciplinary projects at the interface between AI and health. The profile is open in terms of biomedical questions addressed and methodological skills in AI. Expertise (non-limiting list) in deep learning (including generative AI and explainable AI), statistical, causal or multimodal learning are assets for this position. BGE is particularly involved in the field of predictive pharmacology. The successful candidate will also be able to collaborate with other departments of the IRIG, of CEA (LETI/DTIS), of Grenoble Alpes University, and with the Grenoble Alpes University Hospital.

Profil du candidat

 The candidate must have doctoral training and post-doctoral experience, with at least 5 years of experience in a scientific field related to their research project. They will have demonstrated their scientific excellence through publications and major achievements in AI applied to the field of health.

Scientific and technological expertise (one or more of the following skills):

  • De novo protein design, either in silico method development or experimental validation;
  • Development of machine learning models from health omics data, or implementation of AI approaches dedicated to the modeling of large-scale health data.

Skills:

  • Good integration into their disciplinary field and willingness to integrate their activities into the current research axes of their host department and of the IRIG;
  • Good capacity for initiative, organization and communication within multidisciplinary collaborative projects;
  • Strong team spirit in order to be able to create a dynamic and unite around its research projects;
  • Ability to submit requests for research funding and contribute to those of multidisciplinary research consortia.

Application

To apply, please send your CV, cover letter, research project proposal (2 pages maximum explaining current and future research interests), list of publications, references. Application deadline: 15 July 2024.

For any request for information on the position and application procedures, please contact the management of IRIG (annie.andrieux@cea.fr), and/or IBS (winfried.weissenhorn@cea.fr) and/ or BGE (marie-odile.fauvarque@cea.fr).
